The 1st Japan IR Expo in Hokkaido, originally scheduled for 11 and 12 December, has been canceled following Governor Suzuki’s announcement that the prefecture has abandoned plans to develop an IR.
The initial line up had several companies set to participate, including Hard Rock International, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, and Rush Street, all of whom had expressed interest in a Hokkaido IR.
Governor Suzuki announced that the prefecture has abandoned plans for an IR last week, stating, “As a result of careful consideration, I had reached the conclusion that I would like to give an IR bid a shot, however the candidate site is likely to be a habitat of rare animals and plants, and the appropriate environmental considerations would be impossible in the restricted schedule.”
The 1st Japan IR Expo in Yokohama is scheduled to be held on 29 and 30 January 2020.
Participants and exhibitors include Galaxy Entertainment, Genting Singapore, Las Vegas Sands, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, Sega Sammy Holdings and Wynn Resorts.
