Sheldon Adelson said to be gaming industry’s top earning CEO in 2018
Sheldon Adelson may no longer sit atop the Asian Gaming Power 50, but he was still the global gaming industry’s number one earning CEO in 2018, according to a Gaming Industry CEO Survey released by AETHOS Consulting Group.
The list, which takes into account both base salary and incentives, places Adelson – Chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands – at the summit with 2018 earnings of US$24.0 million, slightly ahead of GVC Holdings’ Kenneth Alexander with US$23.1 million. The figures do not take into account individual shareholdings.
Melco Resorts & Entertainment boss Lawrence Ho was best in Asia, coming in at number five with US$15.0 million, while both Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox (ranked fourth with US$17.1 million) and MGM’s James Murren (eighth with US$12.8 million) also ranked inside the top 10.
Galaxy Entertainment Group Chairman Lui Che Woo was named as Galaxy’s representative on the list ahead of his son and GEG Vice Chairman Francis Lui, coming in 12th at US$7.6 million. The younger Lui was named as the most influential man in Asian gaming by IAG in the 2019 Asian Gaming Power 50, announced at a black tie gala dinner last week.
