Four more casinos open their doors as Macau entertainment venues given green light
The Macau government announced that it would allow bars, clubs, karaoke, theaters, and other entertainment venues to resume operations at 00:00 on March 2.
Sands Cotai Central, Rio Hotel and Casino, Oceanus and Casino Eastern have all re-opened this week, taking the total number of casinos in Macau to resume operations since 20 February to 36.
The government also announced on Thursday that it will allow bars, pubs, clubs, Karaoke bars, cinemas, theaters and other entertainment venues to resume operations from midnight on 2 March. Much like casino floors however, operators will be required to leave enough space in internal areas, avoid mass gatherings and improve hygiene measures.
All entertainment venues were forced to close during the 15-day layoff of casinos starting from 5 February, but were not allowed to re-open alongside gaming operations on 20 February.
Meanwhile, the Health Bureau has revealed that the eighth of Macau’s 10 confirmed case has recovered. The patient is a 56-year-old local resident who works as a casino shuttle bus driver for SJM. He was discharged from hospital this week but has been sent to a single ward for medical observation before returning to the community. The number of confirmed cases has held steady at 10 since 4 February.
